NBA Teams Eyeing Washington Wizards If They Decide To Sell Young Assets

The Washington Wizards have gotten off to such a slow start this season, and they might not be far away from trading away their valuable assets.

The Wizards are just 4-9 this season and there are already rumors starting to swirl about the team having a fire sale. According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, multiple teams are eyeing trades for the Wizards role players.

He states those players are Jeff Green, Markieff Morris or Kelly Oubre. All three of them will become unrestricted free agents at the end of the season.

The two most notable players that weren’t mentioned were John Wall and Bradley Beal.

Wall and Beal are very unlikely to be dealt this season due to their massive contracts.

Wall is owed just over $19 million this season, but then is owed over $37 million next season. He is also under contract through the 2022/23 season.

Beal, on the other hand, is owed over $25 million this season and is signed through the end of the 2020/21 season. He is also the younger of the two and would be the likelier of the duo to get moved if that day were to come.

Bullets Forever

Oubre is probably one of the most interesting players that is being rumored about. He will be turning 23-years-old next month, and will likely be getting a big raise in pay this summer.

He is making just over $3 million this season, but will likely be looking for a multi-year contract that pays him much more than what he’s making now. While Oubre is inconstant at times, he does prove to be a very good up-incoming player.

Through 13 games this season, Oubre is averaging twelve points per game. He’s also averaging just over four rebounds per game along with owning a field goal percentage of 40.8 percent.

What This Means

If the Wizards were to move Obure, he would snag them a very decent return even with him becoming a free agent at the season’s end.

However, if the Wizards continue to slide further and further towards the bottom of the East, it will not surprise anyone to see them completely tear down their entire team minus Wall and possibly Beal.
