SAN FRANCISCO – Terrance Ferguson walked into the gym halfway through shootaround, with a pep in his step that didn't match the amount he had slept the past two nights.
Ferguson rejoined the Thunder Wednesday morning after missing two games for the birth of his daughter Lylah Rose Ferguson.
“It’s the best feeling in the world,” Ferguson said after shootaround.
Before this week, Ferguson might have said draft day was the best in his life. Lylah’s birth changed that, he said.
It has also been a week full of plane flights, crying and dirty diapers.
Ferguson thought he’d be able to play against the Kings Monday. Lylah still hadn’t been born, so he said goodbye to his fiancĂ©e, Lawren Jensen, flew into Sacramento and got ready for shootaround. Then he got the call. He needed to get back to OKC.
Two commercial flights and a layover in Houston later (that was the best option at such short notice), Ferguson landed in Oklahoma at around 9 p.m..
“Had a baby like two hours or something later,” he said. “Got no sleep. It’s an exciting time though.”
