The Golden State Warriors have revolutionized the way basketball is played. As a result, they may have indirectly sabotaged the career of one of the greatest scorers of all-time.
No team in the history of the league shoots the 3-pointer like the Golden State Warriors. With Stephen Curry leading the charge, the Warriors changed what it means to play basketball. In the process, they may have indirectly ruined the career of Carmelo Anthony.
When the Dubs first came on the scene as a team with championship potential in the 2012-13 NBA season, there was a common narrative surrounding teams’ such as the Warriors. The saying “live by the jump shot, die by the jump shot” was a phrase thrown around all of the time. It was believed that 3-point shooting teams simply couldn’t stay consistent enough to win an NBA championship.
Of course, the Warriors shattered this way of thinking by having an incredible four-year stretch in which they reached the NBA Finals four consecutive times and won three championships. Throughout the course of their success, teams began to take notice of the style that the Dubs were playing with.
Naturally, teams attempted to copycat the Warriors and recreate the magic that Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson had exhibited. While the rest of the NBA started to follow this new trend, players with an older style of scoring became outcasts. Today, we examine how the Warriors inadvertently cause Carmelo Anthony’s fall off.
